Waterford Avenue is a hangout for train fans, but on May 5th, they came out in maximum numbers to enjoy the CP #2816 steam engine and its passage through Milwaukee (5-6-24, 12:20pm).
The crowd at Waterford crossing, a popular, but problematic trainfan hangout, was cheerful and in high spirits. Those of us with scanners were able to give updates on where the CPKC’s Final Spike Tour Train journey toward our location.  When it finally came around the curve, the crowd cheered and let out an enthusiastic yell that dimmed all the days of neighborhood intimidation and their hate of train fans. Waterford Avenue crossing has been renewed and cleansed of the days and months of horse crapping that had been heaped on it by those bad forces in the neighborhood.
Waterford Avenue is now a fresh daisy of trainfan springtime, as warm and cheery as the crowd that witnessed that passage of Engine 2816!
